What is foreign credential or diploma evaluation?
The diploma evaluation centres issue written statements indicating what a certain foreign diploma or course of education might be worth in the Netherlands. These statements have the status of advice only, and no rights can be derived from them. The centres of expertise cannot be held liable for any damages resulting from decisions made by third parties on the basis of a diploma evaluation.

A diploma evaluation is only possible if you have completed a course of education and have been awarded a diploma. An education evaluation is carried out if you have not completed a course of education.

What is the purpose of diploma evaluation?
A diploma evaluation can help you to make a decision regarding a course of study or a job. It can also help UWV WERKbedrijf or a prospective employer assess whether you are suited to a certain job.

What does diploma evaluation not cover?
A diploma evaluation does not describe all the courses of education you have completed. It will usually only cover the highest diploma you have been awarded, and will tell you with what Dutch course or diploma it is most comparable. It will not say, for example, that you are qualified to be a car mechanic. This decision is made by someone else, for example a UWV WERKbedrijf advisor or a prospective employer.

What can be done if diploma evaluation is not possible?
It is not always possible to conduct a diploma evaluation. Courses, programmes and educational systems vary widely from country to country. Sometimes, the person requesting an evaluation does not have the right documents.
